One Injured in Hagerstown Shooting

The victim is expected to make a full recovery

Hagerstown, Md. (BW)- A woman was shot in Hagerstown the morning of Friday, May 26.

The Hagerstown Police Department responded to the 400 block of S. Potomac St. around 1:20 a.m for reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 55-year-old Carol Thompson of Hagerstown with a gunshot wound in her stomach and right hand.

Officers provided medical attention until Community Rescue Service arrived to the scene. Thompson was transported to Meritus Medical center and is expected to make a full recovery.

One officer noticed a man in between houses on the same block who had a handgun at his feet. The officer contacted the man and found he had several firearms and small containers of suspected narcotics in his area.

The man, identified as 37-year-old Russell Younker was arrested and charged with numerous firearms and narcotics violations.

Police searched the residence they were dispatched to and found additional narcotics and ammunition.

The investigation into the shooting continues.
