1 dead, 2 injured after head-on crash in Haddam

HADDAM, Conn. (WTNH) – One person has died and two others are injured after a crash Monday morning in Haddam, according to fire officials.

Troopers responded to the head-on crash around 6:33 a.m. on Saybrook Road (Route 154) at River Road.

The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company said one person was pronounced dead on the scene. He was later identified as 28-year-old Elijah Isiah Santiago of Hamden.

Two other people were transported to Hartford Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

Officials said LifeStar was initially requested but it was cancelled while en route.

Both lanes on Saybrook Road remain closed while state police conducted an investigation. It is unclear when the road will reopen.
