Marquette County golf courses celebrate opening day
MARQUETTE & CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLUC) - Spring has sprung in upper Michigan, and that means many will hit the greens to test out their golf swings. The crack of a well-timed drive and the smell of fresh-cut grass filled the Marquette Golf Club for opening day. Head Golf Professional Bob Bastian said the club had about 75 golfers tee off Tuesday from its Heritage Course.

Paige Du Bois’ journey to the Boston Marathon

(WJMN) – For Green Bay native Paige Du Bois, her love for competition began on the basketball court. “You know, for me, I was a basketball player growing up,” said Du Bois. “My older brother, actually, he started running cross country when he was in middle school. So, I was in sixth grade at the time and going to his meets I was like, ‘huh, I could do this!’ You know, just wanting to keep up with my older brother.”
NMU’s Minnie Bittell earns GLIAC honors
MARQUETTE, Mich. – After being honored as one of the graduating seniors before the NMU Lacrosse senior game, Minnie Bittell poetically turned in a career performance. Bittell tied her career-best nine points in a game with five goals and four assists from eight shots on target to earn her third GLIAC weekly honor of the season. Bittell has recorded five or more points in 11 of her 14 games this season and leads the GLIAC in goals (59), assists (25), points (84), and shots (121), all of which are single-season career highs for Minnie who is now eight points shy of 300 career points.
