GULFPORT, Miss ( WJTV ) – Gulfport police arrested a 20-year-old woman after she allegedly dragged two officers with a vehicle.
The incident happened on Friday, April 12 just before 11:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of Old Pass Road. Police said they received a call about a large crowd creating a disturbance.
When officers arrived at the location, they said Dangel Mae Octavia Wills was recklessly operating her vehicle and attempting to leave the parking lot. Police said she refused to leave her vehicle when instructed.
Officers attempted to move Wills from the vehicle, but they said she put the vehicle in drive and dragged two officers several feet.
Police said Wills fled the parking lot and was located a short time later. As officers were attempting to pull her over, they said Wills intentionally struck a law enforcement vehicle. During the chase, police said Wills struck several law enforcement vehicles.
When Wills’ vehicle was disabled, police said she refused commands to exit the vehicle, and she was apprehended by a police K9.
Wills was transported to the Gulfport Police Department to be interviewed. Police said she admitted to striking the law enforcement vehicles and stated she did not intend to get out of her vehicle when told to do so by officers.
Wills was charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and one count of felony fleeing and eluding. She was processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center to be held in lieu of her $250,000 bond.
