Mountain lion spotted in Rohnert Park neighborhood
Residents of a Rohnert Park neighborhood were alerted after a mountain lion was spotted near homes Tuesday morning. The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said a citizen called at about 6:25 a.m. to report seeing a mountain lion on the Five Creek Trail near the Crane Creek Trail. The cougar was seen headed east towards Snyder Lane and the mountains, DPS said. Residents were urged to use caution in the area. Wildlife experts offer the following guidelines should you come into contact with a mountain lion:Remain calm and do not approach the animal. Maintain eye contact, speak calmly, and try to make oneself look larger by raising one's arms and standing tall. If that doesn't work and the mountain lion approaches with aggression, one should make noise by shouting and throwing objects to deter it from coming closer. People should back away slowly and never turn their back and run, but should protect children and pets by keeping them close and never letting them play unattended, especially during dawn to dusk, when the animals are most active.
Struggling restaurant flooded with support after daughter shares a video of dad waiting for customers
The power of social media has been beautifully put to good use recently when a daughter shared a video of her father waiting in their empty restaurant. The heart-warming video has gone viral and TikTok users have been flocking to support the family business. Lee's Noodle House on Hopper Avenue opened in 2003. It is owned and operated by Vuong, Lee's father and Ha Tran, Lee's mother. Vuong and Ha serve and cook Vietnamese dishes. While Lee's sister worked at the restaurant before becoming a nurse, Lee also worked at the restaurant throughout high school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the restaurant had seen a decrease in customers. This is what Vuong was pensively reflecting on in the video shared by his daughter.

Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue Building New Home for Bear Cubs
A new home for bears is being built in Petaluma. The Press Democrat reports that the Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue is building an apex predator enclosure to help care for bear cubs as well as other large predators like mountain lions. Located on Mecham Road near Stony Point, the rescue is currently caring for a half-dozen cubs in a living room sized area and are set to be released in the spring. The new space would be a 160-by-230-foot enclosure, more than double the current space being used.
