South Bend road closures for paving coming to Main Street on Sept. 8-9
SOUTH BEND — Road closures are expected on Main Street between Ewing Avenue and Sample Street in South Bend for paving operations, according to a press release. The closures will occur in two phases, with each phase covering a different section of the street. Construction schedule Phase 1: On Sept. 8, Main Street between Ewing and Indiana avenues will be closed for milling and paving. This expected to reopen by the end of the day Sept. 9. Phase 2: On Sept. 9, Main Street between Indiana Avenue and Sample Street will be closed for milling and paving. This is expected to reopen by the end of the day Sept. 10. A final surface course will be applied during a one-day full closure the following week, with pavement striping to follow under limited traffic restrictions, according to the release. East-west traffic will be maintained at the Ewing and Indiana intersections during the paving operations, according to the release. Traffic will be detoured via Michigan Street, but access for local traffic and businesses will be maintained whenever possible.
