A repeat offender was sentenced on Monday to return to prison after pleading guilty to a 2019 drug offense in Grimes County.

Jockeith Donielle Goree
(Grimes Co. Jail)

45-year-old Jockeith Donielle Goree was sentenced in 506th District Court to 10 years in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance 1-4 grams.

According to the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office, law enforcement and EMS agencies responded on October 18, 2019 to a one-vehicle accident on Business 6, south of Navasota.  Goree, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was seen by medics running in an erratic manner on the highway.

Medics were treating Goree inside the ambulance when officers arrived.  Prosecutors said Goree showed signs of being under the influence of a narcotic and provided conflicting accounts of factors leading up to the crash.  Law enforcement searched the vehicle and found various illegal narcotics, including cocaine.

Goree was previously sentenced in 2005 to three years in prison for Delivery of a Controlled Substance out of Grimes County.
