ANTIGO — A total of 4,380 acres of trees were harvested through 51 separate timber sales from the county’s public forests in the past three years, according to Al Murray. The Langlade County Forest Administrator provided an overview of his Forestry, Parks, and Recreation department’s accomplishments in the past year at a county board meeting Monday night. White Lake elementary students receive visit from American Legion Auxiliary
Thursday, White Lake School 3K-3rd grade classrooms had a visit from Pam Buettner, Myra Oatman, and Georgia Heistad, members of the local American Legion Auxiliary. They spoke with students about the meaning of Memorial Day and how it is meant to honor fallen veterans. Students also learned how veterans make paper poppies that are then used to raise funds for current veterans. Lastly, the ladies handed each child a small flag, and spoke about the proper way to handle the American flag. The students then parade down the hallway and out the school’s front door before placing the flags in front of the building for the holiday weekend.
