Nurse drowns after driving into flooded Mississippi highway
GREENWOOD, Miss. (WLBT) - A nurse from Tchula drowned in water from a flooded highway while driving home from work late Wednesday. Shanika Newton, 43, had been heading south on Highway 49S, about 12 miles outside of Greenwood, when the incident occurred, according to LeFlore County Deputy Coroner Will Gnemi.
Calhoun City official fired over fuel card meant to be turned in back in 2022
CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WTVA) – A Calhoun City official was fired in mid-April. According to Calhoun City Mayor Marshall Coleman, Brenton Reynolds, the Public Works Director, was fired on April 12 after it was found out he still had and used a fuel card that was supposed to be turned in.
