MIDDLE SCHOOL ROUNDUP: CCS completes unbeaten season

The Community Christian School middle school girls soccer team finished a second straight unbeaten season Thursday. April 25, with a 4-0 victory at Greenville Christian, the Cyclones’ eighth win of the season. Team members are, not in order, Payton Bush, Jamie Pender, Gracyn Holloman, Mollie Pittman, Anna Pierce, Hannah Jordan, Amy Guzman, Barrett Godwin, Ellie Gay, Aspen Evans, Ava Dunnn, Lauren Carter, Cheyenne Burnette, Autumn Bradshaw, Libby Bass, Ava Strickland, Haley Brown, Kylie Varnell, Julianne Batten, Madison Campistrous, Lucy Stadium, Claire Boswell and Kalie Oakey. GREENVILLE — Community Christian School wrapped up a second straight unbeaten girls soccer season with a 4-0 triumph at Greenville Christian on Thursday, April 25.

The Cyclones finished 8-0 and outscored their competition 35-4.

Haley Brown scored twice for the Cyclones while Autumn Bradshaw provided a goal and an assist. Ellie Gay score the other goal for CCS, which also got assists from Mollie Pittman and Anna Pierce.

Kalie Oakey made three saves in goal in the shutout.

Vikings finish perfect regular season

Elm City capped its girls soccer regular season with a 7-0 victory Thursday at Darden, leaving the Vikings 10-0 as they headed into the Tricounties Athletic Conference playoffs next Wednesday, May 1. Elm City is the South Division champion.

Kailynn Williams scored two goal for Elm City while Lilah Rountree, Kensley Hill, Kylie Fassnacht, Sophia Foula and Ava Marsack each scored a goal. Jaide Simpkins passed out two assists and Skyler Fisher and Rountree had one each.

Elm City blanks Darden to clinch South crown

Elm City needed just three innings to dispatch host Darden 15-0 on Thursday as the Vikings finished the regular season 9-1 to clinch the Tricounties Athletic Conference’s South Division.

Ryan Dyans got the win on the mound after pitching two shutout innings and striking out five Darden hitters. Rodrigo Viva struck out the side for Elm City in the third.

Landon Carlone doubled and tripled in two at-bats for the Vikings, who smashed five extra-base knocks among their eight total hits. Viva tripled while Cam Jones and Dixon Skinner doubled.

Elm City will host the TAC semifinals against the North Division opponent to be determined on Thursday, May 2.
