Godfrey trail project draws ire of neighbors
Godfrey’s village engineer says the bike and pedestrian trail project that is underway in the Rocky Fork area is being monitored, but Thursday’s storms brought an incredible amount of rain to the area. Neighbors have voiced concern and opposition to the trail plan for months, and Thursday’s water runoff prompted some to take to social media to air their grievances.
Edwardsville sweeps Mater Dei, Jersey drops pair, SIUE plays 4-hour game
LCCC lost a double header to Spoon River 6-4, 21-4 Saturday and plays Heartland College today at the Godfrey campus. In an opener that lasted just a few minutes shy of four hours, SIUE edged Southern Indiana 2-1 in 16 innings. It was the longest game for SIUE in the Division I era and the most since the Cougars played a 16-inning contest in 2001. Southern Indiana won game two of the doubleheader 4-2. The two teams will be back at it today for the rubber game of the series in a 1 p.m. game at Cougar Field.
