PREP ROUNDUP: Lady Rebels Get Win Over Lady Knights

The South Greene Lady Rebels softball team pushed across three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 9-7 win over the Chuckey-Doak Lady Black Knights on Thursday.

South Greene scored its three runs in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk by Kaylee Whitson, a sacrifice fly by Reagan Arrowood and a Chuckey-Doak error.

South Greene had 11 hits, all singles. Whitney Reaves was 2-for-3, Madison Hensley and Macy Roberts each went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Whitson was 1-for-2 with three RBI, and Katie Willett, Kortnei Bailey, Haven Carter and Nevaeh Davis each had a hit.

Whitson went the distance in the circle for the win. In seven innings, she gave up 12 hits, walked three and struck out three. All seven Chuckey-Doak runs were earned.

South Greene improves to 10-4.

BASEBALL North Greene 5 Carter 4 (10)

BAILEYTON — The North Greene Huskies ran their record to 8-6 when Jaiden Bailey scored a walk-off run on an error in the bottom of the 10th inning on Thursday.

With the score tied 4-4, Owen Pierce led off the North Greene 10th with a walk.

Bailey, running for Pierce, moved to second on a bunt single by Don Stansfield and scored when Mason Smith reached on an infield hit and Carter’s pitcher made an error on the play.

Smith finished 2-for-5, Tyler Britton had a double and two RBI, and Pierce and Isaac Gaby each had a hit.

Britton pitched three innings of scoreless relief for the win. He gave up two hits, walked none and struck out two.

Aidan Halley drew the start for North Greene and pitched seven innings. He gave up eight hits, four runs (one earned), walked five and struck out four.

Greeneville 12 Cocke County 5

Greeneville had 14 hits, all singles, and improved to 14-9 on Thursday.

Greeneville’s Connor Ireland went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Will Harmon was 2-for-2 with three RBI, Noah Murray was 2-for-3, Maddox Bishop was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Carson Quillen, Colton Richards, Kaine Ricker and Corbin Cannon each had a hit and an RBI, and Eli House had a hit.

Carson Norris drew the start on the mound for Greeneville and pitched five innings for the win. He gave up nine hits, five runs (four earned), walked one and struck out four.

Corbin Cannon followed with two innings of scoreless relief. He gave up a hit, walked one and struck out none.

Pigeon Forge 13 Chuckey-Doak 1 (5)

PIGEON FORGE — Chuckey-Doak had just three hits and fell to 10-7 with the run-rule loss in five innings on Thursday.

Chuckey-Doak’s Jake Hinkle, Lynkin Cutshaw and Luke Myers each went 1-for-2.

Dom Atchison was a bright spot on the mound for Chuckey-Doak, pitching a hitless, scoreless inning of relief. He walked one and struck out one.
