Get up; get dressed; go to work; come home; get undressed; go to bed. Lather, rinse, repeat. Year after year. You pay the bill this month and a few days later another one pops up. You’re relieved to meet your monthly quota, but now must meet the next month’s quota. You clean only to have to clean again the next day. And is there ever a day there isn’t something in the laundry hamper? The Seven of Pentacles has obviously come out of a two-hour meeting featuring some clod reading out loud what is already printed on the screen of the Power Point presentation. When navigating our daily work schedule, it’s easy to fall into an existential hole and wonder what all of it is for. And the phrase, “do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life” only applies to trust fund babies. The rest of us have bills to pay. Judgement suggests we reassess how we view our work because very few of us are going to affect change on the macro level. Judgement assures us that on the individual, personal level, everyone is important; but we must see ourselves that way. Every interaction with another person is significant because it humanizes them. Just making eye contact can elevate the moment and, perhaps, have a ripple effect. You think you are just there to pay the bills, but you have the opportunity to change the world, one person at a time.
