Unemployment rates for the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area dropped in the month of April.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, all three counties saw a decrease of at least 0.3-percent from March to April. Greene County’s unemployment rate dropped 0.3-percent from 2-percent to 1.7-percent, while Dallas County saw a 0.5-percent decrease from 2.2-percent to 1.7-percent. Guthrie County saw the largest drop in unemployment, falling 1.1-percent from 3.5-percent to 2.4-percent.

Greene County is in a similar position as it was last year, when the April unemployment rate was 1.6-percent, while Dallas and Guthrie Counties are higher than this time last year. In 2022 Dallas County had an unemployment rate of 1.4-percent, while Guthrie County was sitting at 1.9-percent. Statewide the unemployment rate was 2.7-percent, while the national average fell to 3.4-percent.
