Police identify victim of May 6 crash into Fox River as 39-year-old Green Bay woman; death ruled a drowning

GREEN BAY - The victim of a May 6 crash into the Fox River in downtown Green Bay has been identified Randi Van Lanen, 39, of Green Bay.

She was the lone occupant of a car that left Main Street just east of the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge and plunged into the river about 7 p.m. May 6. Authorities recovered her body later that night, Green Bay police said.

The Brown County Medical Examiner ruled the death a drowning.

Van Lanen is survived by her husband, David, and son, Hunter, along with her parents, in-laws and other family, according to her obituary. She was a 2002 Ashwaubenon High School graduate who loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, motorcycle-riding and making crafts.

Most recently, she worked in the billing department for Aurora BayCare Medical Center and bartended at Rockabilly’s Saloon in Green Bay. Previously, she had worked for 10 years as a quality analyst for MultiPlan.
