Northern Colorado double homicide case involving musician to be featured on ABC's '20/20'

A Northern Colorado double homicide case will be the subject of an upcoming "20/20" episode, according to ABC.

The episode, which airs Friday, June 2, delves into the 2020 murder of Greeley jazz musician Scott Sessions, whose body was discovered in a remote section of Larimer County 40 miles west of Fort Collins on Feb. 10, 2020.

What we know about the murder of Scott Sessions

Sessions, 53, was last heard from on Feb. 8, 2020 — the same night Facebook messages and location data from his cell phone indicated that Sessions met Heather Frank at her Greeley apartment, according to later court testimony. Frank and Sessions had met at a Wednesday night blues jam concert in Greeley the previous month and connected shortly after on Facebook.

Investigators ultimately placed tracking devices on Frank's vehicle as well as the vehicle of her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Kevin Eastman. A covert camera was also installed near Frank's home because that area was the last known location of Sessions' cell phone.

By Feb. 16, there were active warrants for Eastman and Frank on suspicion of first-degree murder in Sessions' case. That morning, investigators tracked Eastman to a Weld County property where he had previously worked and later to a Kersey gas station, where he was arrested on suspicion of killing Sessions.

During a sweep of the Weld County property of Eastman's former employer later that day, a Weld County deputy discovered Frank's body under a wooden tabletop in a wood pile about 10 yards away from a burn pit, per court testimony from Larimer County Sheriff Sgt. Jamie Smith. She had been shot twice in the chest and was wrapped in plastic sheeting and bailing wire.

Eastman was ultimately charged in both murders and, after a three-week trial in Weld County last year, convicted of two counts of murder in the first degree, two counts of tampering with a deceased human body and two counts of tampering with physical evidence, according the Weld County District Attorney's Office.

He was ordered to serve two consecutive life sentences, plus an additional 27 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
