ALABAMA — November begins with mostly cloudy skies and a continuing chance of showers across central Alabama. Scattered rain fell overnight, but the ongoing drought pattern means some areas will pick up more rain today while others see little to none. A dynamic system crossing the region late Tuesday into Wednesday will bring the next chance for storms, possibly with gusty winds in parts of the area.
ALABAMA — The long dry spell across Alabama is coming to an end as showers return to the state on Halloween. For most areas, the last meaningful rain fell on October 10, when Hurricane Isaias moved through the state. Light showers today will give way to more widespread rain tonight, followed by a dynamic system on Wednesday that could bring 1 to 2 inches of rain and strong to severe storms to South Alabama.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — There has been a lot of talk about a potentially unprecedented early Sudden Stratospheric Warming event developing miles above the North Pole. When these events happen, they can disrupt the polar vortex and open the door to blasts of frigid Arctic air weeks later. For Alabama, that could raise the chance of major cold snaps and possibly winter weather later in the season. However, it is still a developing signal, not a confirmed major event.
