Campbell faces must-win victory at North Atlanta
Campbell can take a step forward towards securing a state playoff spot with a win when the Spartans go on the road to play North Atlanta in a Region 3AAAAAAA game at Henderson Stadium in midtown Atlanta. The Spartans (3-5, 2-2) are ranked 38th in the latest Class AAAAAAA PSR poll and can give themselves a boost towards placing themselves among the top 32 teams in the classification that will qualify for the postseason with a win over North Atlanta as well as one over Hillgrove in their regular-season finale next Friday. “As a coach, you want to make sure that you have an opportunity in October to try to get yourself up to make the playoffs,” Campbell coach Jeff Phillips said. “I think every team that’s in our region, outside of maybe McEachern, we’re just fighting for our lives and trying to win every game we can and try to get in through this PSR and these rankings. But behind the school's success is Principal Karen Carstens, whose experiences around the world have helped shape her approach to education. Principal Carstens has led Tritt since 2018. Before that, she served as an assistant principal at Sope Creek and Powers Ferry elementary schools. After moving from Orlando to Cobb in 2005, she began her Cobb teaching career at Shallowford Falls, which kicked off her journey to becoming to the principal of one of the state's top elementary schools. While this story seems like a typical career path for an educator, Principal Carstens' journey to Tritt was anything but ordinary. After graduating from college, Carstens moved to Japan to teach English, where she first saw the impact of education. "Over the years, my experiences as both a parent and an educator have shaped my belief in the power of public education. I've seen firsthand how early intervention, incredible teachers and a genuine belief in a child's potential can change the trajectory of a life," said Carstens. Her passion for adventure didn't stop at her time working in Japan. The Tritt principal
