ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (FOX 56) — United Way of Central Kentucky hosts its annual Day of Action for the week of June 19-23 dedicated to volunteering in your community. In the meantime, the nonprofit is looking for more opportunities to lend a hand, and no project is too small to apply for help.
The National Day of Service seeks to help thousands, but so far, United Way of Central Kentucky has only received six proposals. Leaders hope more people submit an action plan before the deadline tomorrow.
The application asked for a project description, how long to complete it, and the number of volunteers needed. Organizations, schools, and churches in Hardin, Meade, Breckinridge, Larue, and Grayson Counties are encouraged to sign up. United Way of Central Kentucky says it has never denied anyone assistance, but still reviews every proposal thoroughly to figure out how it can best help.
United Way of Central Kentucky prioritizes improving education, financial stability, and health. It helps with everything from reading at a local library to babysitting for a single mother or delivering nutritious foods to a soup kitchen. There is a long list of possible projects, and while they might not seem like a lot, they make a big difference for someone in need.
However, the projects can’t get done without volunteers. Your last chance to sign up to be a part of the change in your community is tomorrow.

Whether you can help for a full day or only four hours, you’re encouraged to submit an interest form online. United Way of Central Kentucky hopes to recruit hundreds of Volunteers. You can sign up solo or volunteer in a group.
The goal is that Day of Action inspires you to never stop volunteering. The nonprofit offers other opportunities to volunteer throughout the year, but if you can’t lend a hand, donations are always accepted as well.
