GRASONVILLE — Grasonville Elementary proudly announces Rooney Rosati, a fifth-grader, as the recipient of this week’s distinguished title, “Pre-teen of the Week”. Nominated by music teacher Jamie Dean, Rooney’s exceptional talents in dance, singing, and acting have earned her recognition among her peers and educators alike.

“Rooney is the definition of a ‘triple threat’,” praised Dean. “She can do it all—dance, sing, act! Not only is Rooney an amazing performer, she also has inspirational curiosity and work ethic.”

Rooney’s journey in the performing arts began at a young age, fueled by a natural inclination towards creativity and expression. From her early days in dance classes to her recent performances at Kent Island Theatre Camp and Church Hill Theatre, Rooney has continuously pushed the boundaries of her abilities, embracing new challenges with enthusiasm and determination.

Reflecting on her experiences, Rooney shared, “My earliest memory was starting dance classes. I was so excited because I’ve watched my older sister going to classes and I wanted to go too!”

As Rooney progressed in her dance classes, her dance studio offered a musical theater class and that class ignited her passion for theater. Rooney soon became involved in the Kent Island Theatre Camp, Church Hill Theatre, QACPS Summer Enrichment Camp, and The Garfield Theatre. In the future, Rooney says she can see herself participating in community theatre, and possibly even directing.

Throughout her artistic endeavors, Rooney has not only showcased her immense talent but also exemplified compassion and inclusivity. Dean commended Rooney’s genuine kindness and generosity, noting her unwavering support for her peers and willingness to lend a helping hand.

“The passion she has to see everyone succeed toward a common goal is a gift to anyone who works with her. She goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels included and she takes the time to help anyone who needs it. She is an out of the box thinker which makes rehearsals and performances so much fun. She encourages people to dig deep and get creative,” says Dean.

Rooney’s parents, Tori and Mike Rosati, expressed their pride in their daughter’s achievements, emphasizing her remarkable talent and exceptional character.

“We are so proud of the amazing talent Rooney possesses,” shared Tori Rosati. “In addition to being a talented actor and singer, Roo is an incredible friend, student, and person. We are excited to see where her passion for performing takes her.”

Dean echoed those sentiments by sharing, “I love teaching Rooney and I am so grateful for the opportunity to watch her grow as a performer and a person. Her kindness to others and her sunny disposition are traits I truly admire about Rooney.”

As Rooney continues to pursue her dreams in the performing arts, her teachers, peers, and community stand in awe of her talent and spirit. With each performance, she not only captivates audiences but also leaves an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to witness her brilliance.
