All this hot and dry has been great for sitting by a pool or hitting the beach.
However, it's been anything but beneficial for our lawns and flowers.
Ginger Valley in Granger says if you've recently planted flowers, they should get about a gallon of water per day.
You also shouldn't overlook your trees.
“With this duration of heat and how hot it’s been and dry wind especially, we have to water slowly with a hose. and that’s why I’m holding this hose, this is what we would call a medium flow. You want to lay this right at the base of the tree. If it’s a tree recently planted, you’re gonna want to do that twice a week for about 15 minutes,” said Greg Leyes, Ginger Valley.
If you're tending a garden, most plants need between one and one and a half inches of water a week for healthy leaves, flowers and fruits.
