GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Grand Rapids man is in the hospital after a Monday morning crash in Georgetown Township.

Around 9:45 a.m., deputies with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the area of Fillmore Street and Cottonwood Drive for a crash.

Responding deputies learned that a Honda Pilot, driven by a 45-year-old Grand Rapids man, had hit a tree.

The driver was unconscious and pinned in the vehicle when officers arrived. He was extracted by fire crews before being taken to the hospital in serious condition, the sheriff’s office said.

It’s unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The intersection was closed while crews investigated. It has since been reopened.

    The crash remains under investigation.
