HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT) - A Michigan man was arrested Sunday after fleeing a traffic stop.

At 9:05 Sunday morning, ISP Master Trooper Matthew Rogers initiated a traffic stop on a Silverado, driven by Mark A. Ashley, 25, of Grand Rapids, after seeing Ashley speeding on US 31 near Toby Pike.

Police say Ashley was traveling 97 mph and did not stop when troopers tried to pull him over.

The chase continued into Hamilton County, where the Westfield Police Department officers had set up stop sticks.

Ashley hit those, deflating two tires, and continued into Westfield, where he hit a tree and then fled on foot.

An adult and child were left in the vehicle.

A perimeter was put in place and Ashley was soon arrested.

He faces charges of resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle and criminal recklessness.
