Vander Wilt golf tourney May 11 at The Hill
The second annual Keith Vander Wilt Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, May 11, at The Hill Golf Course at Grand Junction. Registration will start at 10 am and play will start at 11. The tournament will be an 18-hole, 4-person best shot. The cost is $240 per team. Call The Hill at 515-738-2633 to register your team.
Perry girls track makes big strides, boys soccer ranks 10th
There’s only so much room to write about Perry’s accomplishments this week. (Note: Events covered April 9-15) Making the short haul to Greene County on Monday, the Jayettes wound up in fifth place among the eight school setup. Scoring 66 points was a massive upgrade from the eight points scored at the Ram Relays in 2023.
2024 IHSAA High School Boy’s Golf Postseason Sites
(Boone, IA) – The IHSAA released their high school golf postseason sites for the 2024 season. Sectional meets will take place on Wednesday, May 8th in an 18-hole competition or May 7th depending on the course availability. Both the team and individual qualifiers from the Sectional meets will advance on to the district meets. District meets will take place on Monday, May 13th, or May 14th depending on the course availability. The team and individual qualifiers from the District meets will move on to the State Golf Championships that are set for Monday and Tuesday, May 20th and 21st in Ames.

Boone boys tennis off to winning start, girls soccer bounces back
Following a winning season last year, the Boone boys tennis team has started strong once again, getting off to another hot start. The Toreadors are 6-1 so far in their dual meets, and head coach Jed Hammen said it has been a good start for their younger team in terms of experience.
Girls golf team shows improvement
The Greene County girls golf team took to the course twice last week and showed improvement as they were able to play the same course twice. Both meets took place at the Breda Golf Club last week with the first being on Tuesday. That meet saw the Rams fall to Carroll by a tally of 231-210 as a team. The scores that came through were: Maya Telleen, 49, 2nd; Maggie Mikkelsen, 58, 5th; Hallie Monthei, 59, 6th; and Alivia Cornell, 65, 8th.
Ram boys golf in three meets
Last week was jam packed for the Greene County Boys Golf team as they got to take part in three meets last week. First up on the tee sheet was a meet against Webster City on Tuesday where the Ram boys shot a collective 187 but that wasn’t enough to defeat the Lynx as they shot a 159 on the day.
Ram boys track & field at Carroll and Saydel
The Greene County boys track and field team took part in two meets last week, competing at Carroll and Saydel High Schools. On Monday, April 8, the Rams traveled to Carroll High School, finding success in various competitions. Drew Wolterman found himself first in the 800 meter run, with Isaac Carman taking second in discus and Nick Madsen second in the 100 meter dash. Kamden Kinne placed fourth in shot put and Jack Hansen finished fourth in long jump, Trey Schilling fourth in the 200 meter dash. Noah Hinote was the fifth place finisher in the 3200 meter run.
