Giltner man to trial court for animal abuse
AURORA, Neb. (KSNB) - A Giltner man faces possible trial for felony animal neglect after one of his dogs was found frozen to death in January. Kevin Jemison, 60, is charged with felony cruel neglect of an animal resulting in death and felony neglect of an animal causing serious illness or injury. On Tuesday, Jemison waived an evidence hearing and the case was transferred to Hamilton County District Court. His arraignment is set for May 16. At an arraignment, a suspect typically pleads guilty or not guilty to the charges faced.

Vote no on city sales tax
I have been a citizen of Aurora for over 50 years and during this time have seen our community build many facilities without using any tax dollars. Over the years we have had a good partnership with both our county and city in attracting business and industry and then providing housing for these new jobs. In doing so, we have been able to grow our tax base without a local sales tax. Why change what has been working for us? We all pay enough taxes so why another 1-1/2 percent sales tax?

City has not proven need for additional tax revenue

Donald Anthony, 36, was convicted for the February 2022 stabbing death of Said Farah at an apartment in east Grand Island. He was sentenced to life in prison for murder and two felony weapons crimes.
