GRANBY, Mass. (WWLP) – The Granby police are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in breaking into an ATM.

According to the Granby Police Department, at around 1:26 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16th, officers were called to the PeoplesBank ATM on 77 W State Street for a report of it being broken into. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the 911 caller who stated that three people got out of a white Ford dump truck, connected chains to the ATM, and pulled it open using the truck.

The suspects took the “cash boxes” from inside the ATM and drove away. Police found the truck abandoned about a half mile away, which was reported stolen from South Hadley the night before. Crowbars and chains used to break into the ATM were left behind.

Earlier, at around 11:04 p.m., the same truck was seen at Berkshire Bank on Shaker Road in East Longmeadow where there was an attempted break into the ATM. A short time later, the truck was seen on Main Street in Indian Orchard.

Police believe that the truck was being followed by a small dark-colored SUV as shown in the security footage.
