Grambling, La. (KTVE/KARD) — Grambling state softball has entered the home stretch with just one more conference series left in the regular season against the Alcorn State Braves. The Tigers have had fun times when matched up against the Braves given their undefeated record against the Braves this season, but two days of double headers meant the Tigers had some work to do to finish out the regular season on a high note.

The Tigers took the first win easily with a 6-0 shutout; Dacia Richard starred on the mound with 10 strikeouts.

The second game came with a little more firepower from the Braves. Paris Thompson grounded out, but it opened the door for Kennedy Terry to make her way home to get the Braves on the board first in the top of the first inning. After a few slow innings Jillian Walter’s popped a ball to centerfield and Genise wells slid into home plate to put the Braves up 2-0 in the fourth inning.

After a sluggish start for the Tigers, they began to flip the script and take back momentum with the help of Grambling State designated hitter Khahli Malone flying a RBI single to right field, and Grambling State Catcher Jayda Williams matched the flowing energy putting another run on the board off an RBI single from Katelyn Walls.

The Tigers would add one more run with Kayliana Cash trotting home in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the Tigers would go on to win 4-2.

The Tigers and Braves will return to the field for another double header on Saturday with the first game starting at 12 p.m. at Grambling State Softball Complex.
