The mother of the 6-year-old boy who shot first grade teacher Abigail Zwerner in January is now facing federal charges.

Court documents filed yesterday reportedly accuse 25-year-old Deja Taylor of “knowing that she was an unlawful user of a controlled substance” when she purchased the handgun last July that her son would use to shoot Zwerner.

Prosecutors say that Taylor lied on a written statement to the gun dealer in Grafton, Virginia saying that she did not use any form of controlled substance, knowing all along that she used marijuana – which is still illegal at the federal level.

In Virginia, Taylor already faces felony child neglect and a misdemeanor for leaving a gun accessible to a child.
