GRACE — The Grace High School drama students are set to perform a play that’s sure to attract some laughs from everyone in the audience.

Eli Hubbard, organizer of the play, said the students will be performing a play called “Lucky Stiff” starting Friday. It tells the story of a man who inherits a large fortune from his uncle.

“He’s inherited $6 million from his dead uncle,” Hubbard said. “But only if he takes his dead uncle on vacation with him to Monte Carlo.”

Hubbard said while the dead man’s nephew is trying to earn his fortune, he is being chased by a woman and her brother. The two siblings are trying to get the $6 million too.

“The uncle and his girlfriend stole the money from (the woman),” Hubbard said. “The lady and her brother are trying to get the money back.”

Hubbard said that another man is also following the main character to try to get the money.

“If the main character fails in completing is uncle’s every detailed wish, the money goes to a dog charity in New York,” Hubbard said. “A representative of that charity is also there trying to get the money.”

Hubbard said “Lucky Stiff” is a fun play to watch with all the characters interacting together and all the comedic elements.

“It’s got a lot of great music,” he said. “It’s very hilarious and has my own personal twist on it. It’s just a blast.”

Hubbard said his favorite part about the play is watching the students take charge and put it all together. He said during performances, the students do all the work from changing the sets to the lighting.

“During showtimes, I’m in the audience,” he said.

Hubbard said performances of “Lucky Stiff” will be held on Friday, Saturday and Monday. Each performance will start at 7 p.m. at the Gem Valley Performing Arts Center in Grace.

Tickets for “Lucky Stiff” can be purchased online at gracehighdrama.ludus.com .
