Traffic Stop Near Algona Leads to Arrest of Fort Dodge Man
–A Webster County man is facing a felony charge in Kossuth County following a traffic stop in the rural Algona Area early Thursday morning. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted the traffic stop just after 2:30 AM on June 1st. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies arrested the driver, identified as 38-year-old Casey James Schulte of Fort Dodge.
MISSING NORTH MANKATO TEEN FOUND SAFE
North Mankato police say a missing 16-year-old has been found safe. Police earlier Monday put out an alert for 16-year-old Colin Faberge who police say took his family’s 2011 White Chevy Traverse when he left home early Saturday morning with the family dog. His phone pinged around 2:45 pm in the Fort Dodge, Iowa area. But he has been found safe and no other information has been released.

Fort Dodge Community and Law Enforcement Come Together to Combat Crime
A town hall meeting was held Thursday night in Fort Dodge with one goal in mind, making the community a safer one. The meeting was held four blocks from the site of the murder of an 18 year old man in broad daylight that occurred in early May, the event, the first of a month that ended with two other shooting deaths within the city limits.
Death Investigation Underway in Fort Dodge
A death investigation is underway after a suspected burglar was shot and killed in Fort Dodge this morning. At around 5:10 am, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a call from a Fort Dodge resident reporting that someone was breaking into his garage on the 1200 block of 6th Ave S., and he had shot a male. When Fort Dodge Police officers and medics with Fort Dodge Fire Rescue arrived, they located an unresponsive male that was ultimately pronounced deceased. His name will not be released until authorities are certain all next of kin have been properly notified. Members of the criminal investigation division were called in to assist in the investigation. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police. The Fort Dodge Police Department was assisted by the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Webster County Attorney’s Office, the Fort Dodge Fire Department, and the Webster County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Electrical Failure Blamed For Friday Garage Fire In Jefferson
An electrical failure is believed to be the cause of a weekend fire in Jefferson that destroyed a garage and several vehicles. According to officials, the Jefferson Police Department and Jefferson Fire Department responded to the 200 block of S. Maple Street at approximately 6:21 p.m. Friday for a fire in an unattached garage. The blaze completely destroyed the structure, as well as two vehicles that had been parked inside. A third vehicle, which had been parked just outside the garage, was also damaged. Firefighters needed to return to the scene about four hours later after a nearby tree ignited from a residual hotspot. Jefferson Fire Chief Jack Williams indicated the fire appears to have started due to faulty electrical outlets in the garage.

Main Suspect in Fort Dodge Murder Case Apprehended
The primary suspect in a Fort Dodge Murder investigation has been apprehended in eastern Iowa. According to a press release from the Fort Dodge Police Department, a tip came in on Saturday of a possible location in Davenport, Iowa of wanted subject Davonquae Jyshon Pettigrew. Local investigators reached out to the Davenport Police Department for assistance. With the information that was gathered, the Davenport Police Department conducted a search warrant at a residence in Davenport. During the search warrant, Pettigrew was taken into custody at approximately 6:45 P.M. without incident.
Harcourt Man Arrested for Allegedly Stalking in Jefferson
A Harcourt man was arrested on a warrant after a month-long investigation by the Jefferson Police Department. According to court documents, from February 3rd-28th, officers found evidence that 35-year-old Zein Ibrahim attempted several times to contact an individual who had a no contact order in place against Ibrahim. Ibrahim left voice messages on the victim’s cell phone, left notes on the vehicle and visited the victim’s place of employment.

Juvenile Charged For Felony Vandalism At Greene County Community Center
The Jefferson Police Department reports another juvenile has been cited in connection to a string of broken windows in the community over the past several weeks. According to law enforcement, officers were dispatched to the Greene County Community Center at approximately 8:36 a.m. Saturday in response to a broken second-story window valued at nearly $2,100. Security camera footage helped authorities identify the suspect, a 9-year-old male. A charge of second-degree criminal mischief, a class D felony, has been forwarded to the juvenile courts for processing. At the beginning of the month, the Jefferson Police Department also investigated nearly $8,000 in damage to windows at the former Greene County Middle School. At least 21 double-pane windows were broken in that incident.
County Recorder Advises Of Scam Letter
Rock Rapids, Iowa — A letter that looks like it could be from your county recorder’s office is actually a scam. That’s according to Lyon County Recorder, Amie Griesse. Griesse tells us that the scam first came to light in Webster County. She says the Webster County Recorder’s Office recently assisted a resident with questions about a confusing letter they received, which was quickly identified as a scam and reported to local law enforcement.
