The best on Broadway will be honored this Sunday at the annual Tony Awards.
A Gorham woman is not up for a Tony, but she did receive quite the honor by starring in the longest running Broadway show of all time: The Phantom of the Opera.
Sara Esty performed in the musical over 400 times and back in April after 35 years, when the final curtain fell, she was on the stage.
"I played Meg Giry in the show. She happens to be the very final cast member on the state holding the phantom's mask as the curtain closes and so for it to be me don't know how or what the universe had to come together for that to be me, but it was and I will never ever, ever forget that moment seared in my mind for good,” Esty said
Esty also got the chance to work with iconic movie director Steven Spielberg in the remake of West Side Story.
You can watch the Tony Awards on CBS13 on Sunday at 8 p.m.
