Newcomerstown News: Alley preparations are underway for Second Saturday event
Village council recently approved the closure of the alley between the Bowman building and Oddbox so the area can be used for public gatherings and Second Saturday events.Some members of Newcomerstown Now, which organizes the Second Saturday events, spent Memorial Day weekend cleaning the area. Mayor Pat Caldle and Mike LaVigne painted the Welcome Center while Nancy Orr began creating the first of many murals planned for the alley. Triple J Investment Brothers hung canopies in the alley and fixed spouting and downspouts on the Bowman building. Benches, lighting and flowers will also be added to the alley.The first Second Saturday event of the summer will be held June 8.
