Tonight in sports... A fan favorite event comes back to the Capital Region.
We're up in Glens Falls because it's Stick it to Cancer weekend for the Adirondack Thunder.
This two-day, two-game event should bring thousands from around the area to Cool Insuring Arena in support of a great cause.
This annual weekend event features the Thunder taking on the Worcester Railers in both games. As for our Thunder... They'll be rockin' the purple Stick it to Cancer awareness jerseys like shown in recent years. And this is where it gets exciting for all the fans. After tonight's game, with a donation, fans will be allowed to paint the ice with a message or name of a loved one that has been affected by cancer. Those will then be sealed in the ice for Saturday’s game. And as for Saturday night, the first 1,000 fans will receive a Stick it to Cancer t-shirt. Lots of excitement. And if you're wondering who it is you'd be helping by donating, let's take a look.
All proceeds will go directly to the CR Wood Cancer Center right here at Glens Falls Hospital. Last year alone... Donations went over $31,000. And everyone here expects to break that record again this year. This weekend is certainly more than hockey, as year in and year out, many come to help out the ones in need.
