Soccer Game Preview: Worland on Home-Turf
Worland is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Douglas is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Worland Warriors will take on the Douglas Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

The Lady Dogie soccer team finished up their season last week with contests in Douglas on Tuesday and at home against Buffalo on Friday. Although head coach Cami Willyard’s crew played hard, they couldn’t get past the Lady Bearcats or the Lady Bison, dropping both games by scores of 0-6.

CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE/ROLL CALL: Council President McNare called the meeting to order at approximately 11:00 a.m. Roll call was taken with the following City Council members present: Mayor Kim Pexton virtually; Councilperson Ron McNare; Councilperson Perry Hershberger; Councilperson Matt Schmidt; and Councilperson John Bartling. Also present: JD Cox, City Manager; Clara Chaffin, Community Development Director; John Harbarger, Public Works Director; Todd Byerly, Chief of Police; Mary Nicol, Administrative Services Director/Treasurer; and Kendal Detwiler, Human Resources Director. General Agenda (Corrections/Additions): Councilperson Bartling moved to approve the general agenda as presented. Councilperson Schmidt seconded. Motion carried 5-0. FNB breaks ground on new bank, expects to open in ‘25
It’s been a long time in the making, but on Monday First Northern Bank of Wyoming officials turned the first shovel of dirt on the site of their new bank. The ground-breaking ceremony ends the planning phase for the new bank and moves it into the construction phase, with work expected to begin in earnest in mid to late May, according to Douglas Branch Manager Pierre Etchemendy.

A local resident worried about potential prom disasters decided to offer a volunteer service to those in need following Douglas High School’s 2024 Prom. Audrea Lewallen posted on social media that she would be giving rides to those attending prom who found themselves having too much to drink or simply in need of a ride, “no questions asked.”
