Prep sports recap for May 2, 2024

PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Sara Finn had four hits, including a triple and a three-run homer as Illini Bluffs beat visiting Havana, 14-2, in softball on Thursday.

Havana scored a pair of runs on a two-out single in the first by Hannah Hodgson. But IB broke through with a nine-run rally in the third inning.

Finn’s leadoff triple started the third inning. Her three-run homer in the sixth closed out the game as the Tigers won the game by the ten-run rule.

Metamora, Limestone, and Morton won softball games. The East Peoria-Dunlap game was tied 2-2 in the sixth inning when the game was suspended by rain.

Brimfield-Elmwood beat Delavan, 6-1, in a baseball game feature a pair of good small-school teams. Normal Community beat Danville, 9-0, in soccer.

Area schools advancing bass fishing teams out of sectionals include El Paso-Gridley, Central Catholic, Normal Calvary, Princeville, Farmington and Illini Bluffs.
