Kilgore man ‘refuses to be victim,’ fights back against machete-armed home intruders, police say
KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - Kilgore police report an arrest resulting from a home invasion that occurred on Wednesday night. The alleged invasion happened at an apartment in the 600 block of Harris Street, according to police. When officers responded to a 911 call for help there, they learned that two teenage boys, ages 18 and 17, that the residents knew, had come to the apartment to assault one of the apartment’s residents.

Hawkins official claims no responsibility for impact of alleged hacking
HAWKINS, Texas — The former interim mayor of Hawkins said he can’t be held responsible for the aftermath of the alleged hacking of the city’s computer system, even though he gave a man access to a city computer to perform a “cybersecurity audit" without the council's approval.
911 call service intermittently down in Kilgore
KILGORE, Texas — The Kilgore Police Department says due to area wide 911 issues, their system has been intermittently down. In a Facebook post, KPD said if your call does not go through, please dial 903-983-1559, extension 1 to report your emergency.
DPS Cyber Crimes Unit takes over investigation into Hawkins city computers
On April 1, someone not employed by the city was given access to the mayor’s computer in City Hall. Mayor Rushing said that person was Shahaub Tafreshinejad. Rushing also said Mayor Pro-Tem Chuck Richoz brought Tafreshinejad in and gave him the password to the city computer in the mayor’s office. Richoz said it was for a security audit.
