GLADBROOK – Kathy Anderson of Gladbrook recently created a second Corn Carnival quilt out of the yearly t-shirts.

The tradition of creating a t-shirt depicting the Corn Carnival theme began in 1990.

Kathy’s first quilt displays the artwork on the t-shirts from 1990-2005, while her recently completed second quilt starts with the 2006 Corn Carnival shirt and ends with the 100th Corn Carnival with the theme “A Century of Celebrations” from 2022.

Kathy was very happy she had enough border material left, so both quilts match except the second one uses 17 t-shirts instead of 16.

Both quilts are now on display on the upper floor of Gladbrook City Center by the museum door. Be sure to stop in during Corn Carnival and tour the Gladbrook Museum and view the two very unique quilts.

A big thank you to Kathy, who is a long time quilter, for donating her time and talents for all to enjoy!

The 101st Corn Carnival is set for June 15-18. For more information visit: https://www.gladbrookcorncarnival.org
