Two minors injured in UTV rollover in New Hampshire

MILAN, NH — Two minors have been injured in a UTV rollover in Milian, New Hampshire Saturday morning.

According to NH Fish and Game Department, the incident happened at Head Pond Connector Trail around 9:45 a.m.

Authorities say, Thomas Markievitz, 51, of Gilmanton, NH lost control of the UTV after rapidly accelerating while making a left turn in a pull-off area on the side of the trail. As Markievitz spun around while accelerating the UTV rolled onto its side.

There were two minors that were in the back seats of the 4-seater UTV who were injured. Both were taken by ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment of their injuries.

Officers believe the primary factor of the crash to have been excessive acceleration. Markievitz was ultimately issued a summons for operating an OHRV to endanger.

Conservation Officers are reminding UTV enthusiasts that everyone under the age of 18 is required to use a seatbelt and helmet/eye protection.
