LACONIA – Lakes Region Community Developers will participate in NH Gives June 11-12 with the goal of raising $10,000 for its Eviction Prevention Program, which combines targeted case management with direct financial assistance to help families who are experiencing a crisis to avoid eviction and get back on their feet again.

LACONIA — Police have charged one person in connection to an incident where one round from a handgun was fired into the floor at The Big House nightclub last month. Charles S. Anzaldi Jr., 24, of Concord, turned himself in to the Laconia Police Department on Thursday afternoon following the issuing of a warrant for his arrest, Chief Matt Canfield said.

'NH Loons' relay team heading to national track championship this weekend
MEREDITH — The boys 4x400-meter relay team from Inter-Lakes High School went into the Division III state championship earlier this year with high hopes, and they fulfilled them. They posted a time which beat the previous state record, and would have put their own names in the record books, had the team from Pelham not edged them out by a hair.
Meredith Historical Society awarded preservation grant for Oak Hill Meeting House
MEREDITH – Work has begun on repairs to one of Meredith’s most historic buildings. The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, in partnership with the 1772 Foundation, awarded a $9,000 grant to the Meredith Historical Society to partially fund phase one of a rehabilitation project at the historic Oak Hill Meeting House located at 61 Winona Road. The grant will help address foundation issues, sill restoration, partial re-siding, and painting of the northeast and rear sides of the building.

GILFORD — Nancy Elizabeth (Swain) Jorgensen, 66, of Hillside Drive, passed away on June 3, 2024 at home surrounded by her loved ones. Nancy was born on Oct. 3, 1957, in Laconia, the daughter of Richard “Dick” Bert Swain and Gloria Arlene (Wilson) Swain.
18th Peter Makris Memorial Run draws riders from near and far to honor a legacy
LACONIA — Motorcyclists from the Lakes Region and beyond gathered at the NASWA Resort for the 18th annual Peter Makris Memorial Run on Saturday. There were 279 people registered to ride to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, escorted by State Police. The run is expected to raise $50,000 this year for Easterseals NH's Veterans Count program among other organizations.
Diane K Kline Memorial Scholarship fund announces awardees
The Diane K. Kline Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded scholarships to local students Caroline Goren and Lily Richardson. To date, the fund, established in 2010, has awarded more than $63,000 in scholarships for post-secondary education.
