See our Iowa high school football game predictions for IHSAA Week 8

It’s the second-to-last week of the Iowa high school football regular season, and the state's top programs have mostly solidified their spots as the teams to beat heading into the playoffs. Even at this point of the year, there are plenty of exciting matchups each Friday. And based on how the season has gone so far, there is still potential for top teams to get upset any given week. Each week of the IHSAA season , we select 10 games and try to predict the outcomes, and then we provide an update on how successful – or unsuccessful – those picks were. We went 39-11 through the first six weeks of the season and, last week, we went 6-4, bringing our season-long record to 45-15. Here are our predictions for some of the best Iowa high school football games in Week 8. ADM (5-2) at Lewis Central (5-2) There is a lot to like about this Tigers team, but ADM is a young squad. A new law allows Iowa teachers to remove students from class for violent and nonviolent disruptions

Iowa schools are learning how to navigate a new law that allows classroom teachers to remove students who cause violent or nonviolent disruptions. Educators say the law is a tool added to teachers’ toolboxes, giving them the autonomy to immediately address behavior in the classroom. They hope it leads to a better partnership between school leaders, teachers, families and students to identify the root cause of students’ behavior and solutions. The law — Senate File 2428 — allows public and charter school teachers to remove a disruptive student for at least 30 minutes. The student can return to the classroom only after a meeting between the school’s principal and teacher. Joshua Brown, president of the Iowa State Education Association, said the law was a way to ensure the learning environment was a safe place for students and staff. “At the end of the day, we also need to be dealing with the root cause of why those behaviors are happening. What is that behavior communicating and what do those students need to be successful?” Brown said during an Iowa Ideas panel about student behavior in schools hosted by The Gazette earlier this month. “One of our concerns from the beginning
