The first time hearing from Colt Ford since his near-fatal heart attack in Arizona. Earlier this month, Colt Ford walked off stage and collapsed after a sold-out show at the Gilbert, Arizona, location of Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row. The singer, songwriter, rapper, and retired professional golfer was transported to Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona, where he was in critical condition in the ICU. Since he was admitted, we knew that Ford was receiving the best care but was fighting to see the other side. Today, Ford spoke publicly since his attack on the Big D & Bubba shows, detailing the scary events. Calling from the hospital, he said:
"It's just been a traumatic, crazy experience, guys. I don't even remember coming out here to do a show in Phoenix." Ford goes into detail that after the show, he was riding a high from how incredible it was, and then right after he texted his fiancée that he loved her, he fell over dead. "I died three times. Luckily, my band came out to check on me...they came out to check on me, and then all of a sudden they were like, 'Oh God,' and then that is when all hell broke loose." https://www.instagram.com/p/C6G8IjvOEIn/ Ford noted that Brantley Gilbert stepped up and really got involved in making sure that they got Ford to the hospital. Ford noted how thankful he was for the trauma unit at the medical facility he was admitted to, noting that he was so thankful they saved him because the "Lord had more for (him) to do." Ford said that he was put in a coma after the attack and did not wake up till April 10th, seven days after the attack.
"This Mayo Clinic out here in Phoenix, if it was going to happen, God could not have had me in a better place. The big doc out here said, 'I wouldn't give me 1%, but I give you 0.1% that you'd survive.'" While Colt Ford still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, it sure is good to hear his voice again. Our continued thoughts go to him during this time of rest and recovery and thank goodness for Brantley Gilbert and Colt's team for springing into action and ultimately saving his life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kymRDAtUC1A
