Montgomery County Police Request Help Identifying Assault Suspect

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 5th District Patrol Investigations Unit are investigating an assault on a Montgomery County Police officer. The incident took place on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Wegmans parking lot located at 20600 Seneca Meadows Parkway, Germantown. Photos of the suspect have been released in an effort to identify him.

At approximately 2:07 p.m., officers responded to a theft in progress at the location. The suspect was observed placing items in a cart and exiting without paying. When officers approached the suspect in a nearby parking garage, he fled to his vehicle and struck an officer while escaping. The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The suspect, a black male approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 200 pounds, has also been connected to thefts from several Home Depot stores in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Montgomery County Crime Solvers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Those with information can call 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
