A Rockville grocery store that has recently made news for the wrong reasons is back in the headlines again. Rockville City police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at a supermarket in the 600 block of Hungerford Drive Thursday morning, September 28, 2023. The robbery was reported at the store at 10:00 AM Thursday. There is a Giant store on that block of Hungerford Drive, where 3 people have been assaulted since August 11 of this year.

Montgomery County Police responded to the reports of shots fired on Saturday, September 30. According to police, “MCPD responded to the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road at approximately 12:17 a.m., for the sound of shots. No victims were located at that time. A short time later officers became aware of an adult male at an area hospital, suffering from a gunshot wound. The injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.”

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Police announced on Saturday that its officers had arrested a suspect of killing an off-duty Howard County deputy in Federal Hill.Jewel Crowder, 40, of Baltimore, was taken into custody by S.W.A.T and the Warrant Apprehension Task Force around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to the Baltimore Police Department. Crowder has been charged with first-degree murder.The shooting took place outside of Wayward Bar and Kitchen, located at 1117 South Charles Street. "This unfortunate incident is a great loss to the law enforcement community, his family and friends, and each of us," acting Police Commissioner Richard Worley said.Police said that shortly...

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a collision involving a scooter rider on Saturday, September 30 in Layhill. According to police, “MCPD responded to the area of Bel Pre Road and Layhill Road at approximately 7:44 p.m., for the report of a two-vehicle collision involving a scooter. The adult male driver of the scooter has been transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene.”

Rockville City police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in the Southlawn industrial area early Wednesday morning, September 27, 2023. The robbery was reported in the 1300 block of E. Gude Drive at 2:23 AM Wednesday.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to The Grand Condos at 5801 Nicholson Ln in Rockville around 7pm on Saturday, September 30 for the initial report of smoke in the building. According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, firefighters located a dumpster on fire in a basement trash room which led to smoke on several upper level floors. The fire was extinguished and the basement is being ventilated.
