Kemp joins Perdue for Athens fundraiser, names new GEMA director

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has reportedly issued an executive order against the voting law signed by Governor Brian Kemp on March 24. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, on Tuesday (April 6), Bottoms directed the City’s Chief Equity Officer to implement a series of actions, through an Administrative Order, to diminish what her office describes as “new voting restrictions” imposed by Senate Bill 202. Her office stated that the new actions will ensure every Atlanta resident can exercise their right to vote.

ST. LOUIS–Missouri U.S. Senator Josh Hawley has reintroduced legislation which would ban the use of the popular social media app TikTok on government devices. “My bill is a straightforward plan to protect American government data from a hostile foreign power, which, less than a year ago, passed the Senate unanimously. TikTok has repeatedly proven itself to be a malicious actor but Joe Biden and Big Tech refuse to take the threat of Chinese espionage seriously. It’s time for Congress to act,” Hawley said calling the the app a “Trojan Horse” for the Chinese Communist Party.

Georgia U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff announced Georgia would receive more than $140 million in federal grants to address affordable housing needs across the state. This funding is aimed at providing safe, affordable housing to Georgians who have struggled to make rent/mortgage payments amid the economic consequences caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ossoff and Warnock ran on the premise, if elected, they would provide relief to long-suffering individuals.

The Fulton County clerk looked at Joseph Carpenter and Sallie Mitchell and frowned. “You know that y’all ain’t supposed to get married, don’t you?” said the clerk. Joseph and Sallie just stared at the woman. Their message was clear they were not leaving empty-handed. The clerk reluctantly handed over a marriage license.

Over the past 10 days, two things happened that make clear that a) Trumpism isn't going anywhere and b) it's going to complicate Republican attempts to retake control of the Senate next November.
