Kaylan Yoder threw a no-hitter May 27 to lead the No. 2 Delmarva Christian softball team into the DIAA state tournament semifinals with a 5-0 win over Sussex Tech.

Yoder allowed just one walk while striking out 19 batters.

At the plate, Maggie Kwiatkowski and Lily Hutt each collected two hits. Ryley McCluskey went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Yoder, Lily Fetterman, Katie Thompson and Kylie McCabe each had a hit in the game.

The Royals had advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 victory over Padua Academy in Georgetown.

McCabe singled to become the first baserunner for the Royals. She was moved to second on a Taylor Lowe walk. Pinch runner Eve Bohinski ran for McCabe and scored on a passed ball.

The Pandas took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh when Cate Shrader scored off a Bridget Casey hit up the middle.

The bottom of the inning found Hutt driving a single to left. She advanced to third on a McCluskey sacrifice. Thompson singled on a bunt. Hutt scored scored off a bunt by Rachel Hall to tie the game at 2-2. Thompson stole second and McCabe came through again with a fielder’s choice to score Thompson for the walk-off victory.

Delmarva Christian will host No. 6 Indian River at 4 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, in Georgetown. In the other semifinal, No. 1 Caravel Academy will host No. 3 Laurel Wednesday, May 31.
