Police: Local man arrested for flooding, setting fire to hotel room
MONTPELIER — A 46-year-old local man was recently arrested after police say he flooded and then set fire to his hotel room in Montpelier. Robert Jacob Amidan, of Montpelier, has been charged malicious injury to property, both felonies, following the April 27 incident, according to police and court records the Idaho State Journal recently obtained.

Bear Lake High School senior projects help community in variety of ways
As spring begins the slow walk to summer, Bear Lake High School seniors begin the sprint to graduation. Not only are they scrambling to finish their coursework, but they also recently presented their senior projects to panels of teachers, administrators, school board members and the public. The projects were then presented to the community during an open house in the high school gym.
Bear Lake High School students participate in Idaho Youth in Government Session in Boise
Every year once the Idaho Legislature convenes, high school students from across the state go to the Capitol in Boise for Idaho’s Youth in Government Session. This year, 47 of those students were from Bear Lake High School and three of the top elected officials were among them: Speaker of the House Ethan DeClark, Appellate Judge Tayzley Neal and Attorney General Zach DeClark.
Next Bear Lake Sharp Shooters Camera Club meeting will be May 22
MONTPELIER — The April Sharp Shooters Camera Club meeting featured photos by Alan Checketts from Brigham City, Utah. He also discussed using his camera in manual mode. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Bear Lake High School. There will be a discussion about centering compositions, based on a lesson by professional photographer Richard Bernabe with photo examples by Ross Walker.
Bear Lake Democrats announce location of upcoming caucus
MONTPELIER — The Bear Lake County Democrats have announced the location of the upcoming caucus that will be held on Thursday, May 23, according to a news release. The caucus will be held at the Bear Lake Senior Citizen Center in Montpelier.
