Man arrested after police find victim ‘severely beaten’ in Northern Michigan

OTSEGO COUNTY, MI – Charges are pending against a 35-year-old man accused of assaulting another man, Otsego County sheriff’s deputies said.

Police initially responded to a 4:40 a.m. report of an assault complaint on Saturday, May 27, at the Otsego Memorial Hospital.

There, police learned a man had been severely beaten and sustained major injuries. Police did not say what the extent of the man’s injuries were.

A search warrant was executed at a home in Hayes Township where police found one suspect, a 35-year-old Gaylord man, who was arrested for assault with intent to commit murder.

Police did not say what circumstances might have lead to the alleged attack. However, the investigation remains ongoing.

The Gaylord man was lodged in the Otsego County Jail.
