MONTGOMERY POLICE SAY 30-YEAR-OLD JAMAAL GERMANY TRIED TO ABDUCT A CHILD AS THEY WAITED FOR A BUS ON TOWNE CREST DRIVE IN GAITHERSBURG ON MONDAY MORNING. POLICE SAY OTHER STUDENT STEPPED IN TO HELP IN THE CHILD WAS ABLE TO GET AWAY. THE STUDENTS REPORTED THE INCIDENT ONCE THEY GOT TO REDLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL.

Montgomery County police arrest 31-year-old man same day

A group of students saved a classmate from being kidnapped at a bus stop in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County police.County police said Jamaal Germany, 31, of Gaithersburg, tried to abduct a child who was waiting for a bus at an apartment complex in the 17600 block of Towne Crest Drive around 7:20 a.m. Monday.Police said other students intervened, and the child was able to get free. When the school bus arrived, all the students boarded the bus and reported the incident to staff at Redland Middle School.Police said detectives arrested Germany later that day on attempted kidnapping and second-degree assault charges.Police are asking any other possible victims to come forward by calling detectives at 240-773-5400. There will be an increased police presence at several schools in the area over the next few days, police said.
