NFL draft prospect Anthony Richardson ends Pro Day with backflip

The more Anthony Richardson displays his talent, the more superhuman he looks.

Following another impressive showing at Florida’s pro day on Thursday, Richardson trotted toward midfield and performed an emphatic backflip to end things off.

“I just said, ‘OK, I may have to just stick a backflip,'” he said. “So that was it for the last one, I think.”

He capped his day with a nearly 70-yard bomb after throwing 45 passes Thursday afternoon.

The 6-foot-4 product had one goal in mind: showcase accuracy.

“I feel like I delivered the ball pretty well today,” Richardson said afterward. “Some of them weren’t as great as I wanted to be, but I feel like I threw the ball pretty well today.”

One of those inaccurate balls included a a deep-shot that never made its way to the receiver, instead nailing the facility’s ceiling.

While Richardson can fling long-balls effortlessly, much of the concern around him is about inconsistency with the easier, short throws.

Will Hewlett — who trains Richardson at 6 Points Jacksonville — is working on fixing that.

“The narrative out there is there’s accuracy issues,” said Hewlett. “We were hoping to define what those are and showcase that he can make all the throws at 5 [yards] and under, 10 and under, 15 and under.

There were some important eyes in attendance as the Panthers’ Frank Reich, Seahawks’ Pete Carroll and Jaguars’ Doug Pederson all made their way to Gainesville to watch the 20 year-old perform.

Richardson will be meeting with multiple NFL franchises before the Draft on April 27th and already talked with the Panthers and Raiders Wednesday.

“I’m a workhorse. I’m going to work to be the greatest. I’m going to continue to work,” Richardson said about what he tells NFL teams. “A lot of people would say I have a lot of things to clean up, so I’m definitely going to try to clean those things up.”
