Richardson as No. 1 would be a stunner, but it wouldn't be entirely unwarranted. Richardson is the most physically gifted quarterback prospect of this year's cycle, and with a little bit of fine-tuning at the NFL level, he may become the next game-breaking talent to line up under center.
His pro day should shine a bit more light into the type of passer he can be, if he puts in the adjustments that were expected of him coming out of the combine.

What to watch from Anthony Richardson's pro day
Richardson has a chance to continue building on a strong showing at the NFL Combine at his pro day. Scouts and front offices will have their eyes on Richardson's mechanics and his accuracy. Richardson was just a 53.8 percent passer last season for the Gators.
Richardson flashed a strong arm in Indianapolis, but didn't showcase ideal ball placement outside the numbers. Richardson has mentioned that he wants to continue to work on his accuracy, which will come from improved mechanics. With just under a month between Richardson's combine showing and his pro day, he'll have an opportunity to show off the strides he's made between then and now.

As it stands, Richardson is a lock to go in the first round, but where exactly remains a question.
Richardson's absurd physical traits and showing in athletics testing at the combine means he's a prospect that makes teams salivate. That said, his limited college resume (22 games) and "project" label mean he'll likely need a bit of time on an NFL bench before he can be labeled QB1.
Still, if NFL teams draft for traits and upside, then Richardson might have the best and highest of all the quarterbacks in this year's draft. That has led to rumors of the Panthers springing to No. 1 to potentially draft Richardson, but they've been connected to all four of the first-round prospects this cycle.

Richardson may best be suited to sit behind a veteran passer, but there will be plenty of QB-needy teams in the top five who could take a risk on him: The Panthers at No. 1, the Texans at No. 2 and the Colts at No. 4 all could make viable landing spots for Richardson.
But, the pro day first — and his pro prospects should become a bit clearer after that.
